Beauty Chameleon:: Rihanna
At the young age of just 20, Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty has already mastered the art of not only style, but also beauty. She went from long and brown, to black and short, to reddish-brown and even shorter. Always ahead of the curve, Rihanna never disappoints — it just gets better and better.
“Well, it was first inspired by the bob - even going that step. It made me say, I want to take the next step because I’m always ready to do something new, crazy, and fun! So, one day I said to her - I’m cutting off all your hair today - because she kept saying she wanted to go shorter. Every minute, she was bugging me about going shorter! We just did it, and it was crazy!”
- Ursula Stephen, in an interview with Concrete Loop’s, Tianna
Stylist behind Rihanna’s short ‘do, and Keyshia Cole’s, too.

When the Bejan beauty first sprung on the scene, in summer of ‘05, she wore a long light brown hairstyle. Around the time, there was a lot of gossip surrounding the star, saying that she was “trying to be like Beyoncé“. In ‘06, Rihanna decided to change things up, so she darkened her hair, which was still long, but dark brown.

[Bottom Right] Ri tries out a sharp bob with blunt bangs and bold violet lips.
In ‘07, we met a different side of Rihanna, as she opted for a black hair-do, and she ended up cutting it short. She’s tried purple highlights, corkscrew curls, 1940s glam, and bangs — all this, from a short, simple ‘do!

[Top Middle] Rihanna contrasts a punky, piece-y bob with heavy smoky eyes and shimmering copper gloss.
With a new album on the way, titled ‘Good Girl, Gone Bad’, Rihanna opened up and showed us a more ”rock ‘n roll” side — an edgy bob. Always one to highlight her features, with the help of a great make-up palette, (bottom right) she goes for a peek-a-boo bob with nude lips and mossy green eyeshadow, to match her eyes.

[Bottom Middle] Ri rocks a hot pink pout, with heavy-lined eyes, and edgy bangs.
It’s now ‘08 and Rihanna has already cut her hair twice. It’s obvious that her hair stylist, Ursula Stephen, knows what works for her. The piecey bangs make the style look great!
(Bottom right) “Rihanna wanted something a bit lighter, still edgy, but lighter,” says Tippi Shorter, celebrity colorist for Clairol.
How to Do It
1. Following box directions, apply a mix of Clairol Beautiful Collection color in Dark Warm and Wine Brown.
2.Wash out with Graham Webb Velvet Soft shampoo then conditioner. Apply TIGI BedHead Ego Boost and blow-dry.
3. Add shine with Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum, and flat-iron.
4.Create piecey-ness with BedHead Manipulator.
*Don’t forget Rihanna’s into nails too — always poppin’!

Her transformation was very nice and subtle. After going light brown to black the transition to short really suited her. She is fabulous! That girl can wear almost anything! I love her style.

Shantee I need to know where this balconet top (or ANY balconet) came from?! I loved it when she wore it, but after buying a bra this style, its such a flattering top & I need more in my closet! I’ve tried to search for some, but maybe you can look into your crystal ball & help a girl out? ha

I love RiRi’s look to the max, her stylist, Mariel Haenn and Ursula, her hair stylist make her look so natural. Like her look doesn’t seem manufactured in that it becomes her. I watch this chick all day, n boi her closet is mad tight.
