F101 Beauty Picks:: Winter Nail-Color Trends!

I don’t know about the rest of the world, but it’s more than cold in New York City right now. It’s actually freezing! I can’t find my favorite black scarf, so I’m pretty much on the verge of catching a cold, but that’s not the worst part. I went to one of my fave stores today and planned on buying a few scarves, gloves, and hats — which is my new thing. I just got my hair done, and it would look super-cute with a knitted beret! Anywho, instead of buying those things, I bought like 6 new tops! LOL. It’s a bitter-sweet feeling, because they look gorgeous, but I still haven’t bought my “winter necessities”. I did, however, buy two pairs of gloves. A black one, and a beige one.

I haven’t had my nails done in about a month, and they look a mess. I want an amazing color to put on them, and I know some of my readers have been waiting for this post, so here it is —> Shantee’s Winter Nail Trends, featuring some of your fave celeb fashionistas!

Thanks to celeb manicurist, Lisa Logan, and an array of hott celeb clientele, Minx Nails has turned out to be one of the hottest Hollywood beauty trends of the year! Not only are Beyonce + Solange fans of the latest craze, but so are Mariah Carey, Eve, Blake Lively, Victoria Beckham, and Angela and Vanessa Simmons. Minx Nails features a flexible heat-applied film, instead of a polish. The nail applications don’t flake, chip, or smudge, and dry in a matter of minutes. The most popular are the ‘Golden Lightning’ and the Chrome or ‘Silver Lightning’ sets. Very cute! Metallic nails are definitely one of my fave trends of the season!

I feel like the red nail polish is def coming back this season! Very “va-va-voom”, yet simple. There’s all kinds of shades, from bright to dark.

* Remember: red nail polish has one of the most harsh effects on your nails. The color is so vibrant that they may turn your nails yellow! So, ALWAYS apply a clear base coat, first!

Going with dark neutrals, rather than brights, lends sophistication and wearability to the bold color. And, although skipping top and base coats may seem like a time-saver when you’ve precisely applied the perfect shade, it’ll cost you in the end, says Essie Weingarten, founder and president of Essie Cosmetics. “Always apply a base coat, then two thin coats of polish and a top coat for a longer lasting manicure.”
