[Shanteé @] Fashion’s Night Out: Rachel Roy’s Pop-Up Store Event

Is it obvious that the girls of Fashionista101.com are crazy about Rachel Roy? — We are! My compadré, Ondrea, attended Rachel Roy’s introduction of her fusion line @ Macy’s Herald Square, while I was over in SoHo at Rachel’s Pop-Up Store event. We received a special invite to her MEDIA-ONLY pre-release event the day before, and couldn’t resist coming back the next day for more. The pop-up store, which is basically a temporary store location at 111 Spring St in SoHo, NYC, will only be open for ten days [Sept. 10 - 20], so be sure to visit and check out the store. If you can’t make it, Rachel’s pieces from this collection are available exclusively at Macy’s stores, and on their website.

I tweeted about the party all night. Everyone at the event was dressed to impress, and almost half the room was wearing their brand new RRR designs. The party was hosted by Estelle who arrived hand-in-hand with Rachel, and supermodel Iman made a quick stop in. I also spoke to George Morillo aka SEN ONE, the guy responsible for the cool graffiti designs on some of Rachel’s pieces. When I asked him how him and Rachel hooked up for a collab, he explained that he’s been doing graffiti work since the 80’s, and that once Rachel saw his work, that was that. When Rachel was asked about SEN ONE’s work, she said that art is suppose to make you happy, and once she took a look at his designs, she became happy and inspired. Once Rachel saw SEN at the event, they immediately gave each other a tight hug and joked a bit. Love that.

Though Rachel was caught up with reporters, I of course couldn’t leave the place without chatting with her. We hugged, and briefly spoke before she went under an umbrella and hopped in her ride. When she said, “I’ll be looking out for you!”, I almost melted. Oh, Rachel. I love you!

Here’s a few pics from the event, as well as a video of a general view of the party, and Rachel also being interviewed by ChicTV. *Don’t mind the shakiness of the camera. LOL. People were in my way. It was packed! Oh, and you can barely hear Rachel speaking on the interview, but I didn’t care. Love her.
